5 Must-Do Activities for Spring Days in Val Senales

1. Sunshine at 3,000 metres

The Senales Glacier is located approximately 7.5 kilometres from Hotel Gerstgras. In spring, you can expect fresh mountain air, clear views, and a stunning panorama—perfect for soaking up the sun, taking a deep breath, and enjoying outdoor activities like high-altitude hikes or trail running. A little detour to Bella Vista (beautiful view) rounds off the experience with tranquility and the powerful energy of the high alpine landscape.

2. Ötzi Peak – the most beautiful view of Val Senales

The Iceman Ötzi Peak observation deck is located about 5 km from the hotel and is a real highlight, especially in spring. The breathtaking panoramic views of the Ötztal Alps, stretching all the way to the Ortler, will stay with you forever.

3. Spring serenity in Karthaus/Certosa – a place to slow down

The former monastery village of Karthaus/Certosa is located about 10 km from Gerstgras and is the perfect place for peaceful spring moments. A stroll through the "Silentium" cloister has a meditative effect, while in the monastery gardens, the first herbs and flowers begin to awaken.

4. Spring hiking in Katharinaberg – sun & scenic views

The sunny side of Katharinaberg, located just 14 kilometres from the accommodation, often boasts pleasantly warm temperatures. A section of the Merano High Mountain Trail offers a striking contrast: vibrant meadows in the foreground and dazzling glacial ice in the background.

5. ArcheoParc – archaeology & nature experience

The ArcheoParc in Unser Frau, located about 6 kilometres from the hotel, will reopen at the end of March. Here, families and explorers can immerse themselves in the world of Ötzi the Iceman: bake bread over an open fire, try archery, or learn more about the history of the Neolithic period. And the best part is that ArcheoParc is pleasantly quiet and not overcrowded in spring.
