Skiing
The discovery place of the Ötzi Iceman and the Alpin Arena Val Senales are about 3 km from our Hotel Gerstgras. Our hotel shuttle brings you directly to the modern cable car station, which takes you up to 3,200 m above sea level in just 6 minutes. From the end of September until the beginning of May, 35 perfectly groomed kilometres of slopes await you. Top ski athletes from all over the world choose the ski resort to prepare for the upcoming ski season. Since October 2015, you can try out the Leo Gurschler training slope for slalom and giant slalom, chosen from the elite of alpine ski athletes. With an inclination of almost 60% the slope provides a special challenge mainly for professionals.
There is also plenty of offer for families: a dedicated ski and snowboard school, the Kinderland, where children can have their first experience on skis with a teepee, two magic carpets and a ski carousel.
Ski tours
Located in the immediate vicinity of the Oetztal Alps and the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park, the Val Senales provides a perfect starting point for breathtaking ski tours. You can start directly from Hotel Gerstgras and climb the surrounding mountains of 3,000 m of altitudeor simply choose an easy beginners' tour. If you prefer to ski in company, you can book your own mountain guide. Do not forget to keep up to date with the avalanche reports and to carry the required safety equipment.
Cross-country skiing
The modern cable car takes winter enthusiasts to the Lazaun mountain station, where cross-country skiers can enjoy excellently prepared slopes of approx. 2.5 km. Put your fitness to the test on the 3,050 m high glacier and fully enjoy the magic winter silence!
Snowshoeing and winter hiking
When the first snow gently falls to the ground and nature puts its fabulous white dress, snowshoe and winter hikers look forward to experiencing the fairytale winter world. A good alternative to snowshoeing is hiking through the idyllic snow-covered landscape around our hotel. Try the wide, easy and demanding routes in the snow. Those who prefer to hike in company can join a tour with experienced mountain guides organised by the local tourist association.
